  Prayer Pew

welcome to 4c

What Can I DO?

Catholic Complacency exists because it’s been allowed to; perhaps even cultivated by those entrusted with helping us gain our salvation.

Great leadership combats Complacency!   So what can ordinary good lay people do?  Click on the Bible for a short list for your consideration.

We believe in the strength of prayer and its healing power. It heals the spirit and through the intercessions of God, Jesus, Mary and the Saints.

To that end we offer daily, monthly and seasonal prayers and links to the sites that exemplify excellent prayers and intentions.

This month, we recommend

In honor to all of our mothers - two prayers

The SPIRITUAL ADOPTION PRAYER emphasizes the power of prayer in safeguarding life when it is threatened in the mother’s womb. Through prayer you can intercede for an unknown woman considering abortion and for the safety of her unborn child. Please make a nine month commitment to pray for your spiritually adopted unborn child whom you have named.

Suggested Prayer: Dear Jesus, child of Mary, I love you and thank you for your unconditional love. I plead with you to save the life of __________ the unborn child whom I have spiritually adopted and whose life is threatened by abortion. May this child be allowed to grow in wisdom, age and strength in your presence and in the sight of all.  Amen.

Memorare:

Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother. To thee I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate; despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Saint Andrew Christmas Novena

Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold. In that hour, vouchsafe, O my God! to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ, and of His Blessed Mother. Amen.

A Solemn Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Most Holy virgin Mary, tender Mother of men, to fulfill the desires of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the request of the Vicar of Your Son on earth, we consecrate ourselves and our families to your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.  We recommend to you all the people and especially all students, faculties and schools.

Please accept our consecration, dearest Mother, and use us as You wish to accomplish Your designs in the world.

O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and Queen of families and patroness of our country and the world, rule over us, together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, Our King.  Save us from the spreading flood of modern paganism; kindle in our hearts and homes the love of purity, the practice of a virtuous life, and ardent zeal for souls, and a desire to pray the Rosary more faithfully.

We come with confidence to You, O Throne of Grace and Mother of Fair Love.  Inflame us with the same Divine Fire which has inflamed Your own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart.  Make our hearts and homes Your shrine, and through us, make the Heart of Jesus, together with your rule, triumph in our schools and in every heart and home.

Prayer for the United States

        God our Father,
        Giver of Life,
we entrust the United States of America to
Your loving care. You are the rock on
which this nation was founded. You alone
are the true source of our cherished rights
to life, liberty and the pursuit of
        happiness.

Reclaim this land for Your glory and
        dwell among your people.

Send Your Spirit to touch the hearts of
our nation's leaders. Open their minds to the
great worth of human life and the
        responsibilities that accompany human
freedom. Remind Your people that true
happiness is rooted in seeking and doing
        Your will.

Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our land,
grant us the courage to reject the "culture of death." Lead us into
a new millennium of life. We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

        Amen.

-from "A Holy Hour" for Life: Prayers Before the Blessed Sacrament.

God our loving Father, grant wisdom to those who govern us, compassion and courage to those who work to defend human life, and safety and care to every human being. For you alone who formed us in our mothers' wombs, and who call us home to heaven, are God, for ever and ever.

Amen.
