Connecting the Dots

“Connect-the-dots” is a tagline used to explain the joining of scripture based homilies to one or more Catholic Catechism elements in an environment which recognizes the unique beauty of Catholicism.    The phrase is intended as a way (but certainly not the only way) to draw attention to fact that   Catholicism is the one true Church founded by Jesus Christ Himself.  One should understand two basic premises in order to accept the legitimacy of “connecting the dots”.

What Can I DO?

Catholic Complacency exists because it’s been allowed to; perhaps even cultivated by those entrusted with helping us gain our salvation.

Great leadership combats Complacency!   So, what can ordinary good lay people do?  Click here for a short list for your consideration.

  1. Pray….for an end to abortion and the return of the Culture of Life in our country.

  2. Pray…For an increase in wisdom and courage for all Catholic Clergy.

  3. Know your Faith…Study the catechism and understand that it is based on Scripture, Catholic Tradition, and the Magisterium of the Church.  Subscribe to Catholic Publications, Newspapers, Internet sights etc.  We particularly favor Diocesan Newspapers and the websites of our partners.Get to know your Bishop.  Again, your Diocesan newspaper is an excellent resource for learning how passionate he is for the Pro Life Cause.

  4. Get to know your parish priests better.  Listen more attentively to the Sunday homilies.  How often does the celebrant relate the Catechism to the Sunday scripture readings?  Are the readings connected to a Pro Life theme?  Is the Pro Life message delivered more often than in October, Pro Life month, or January, the anniversary of Roe-v-Wade?

  5. Understand your duties as a lay person.  We are called to evangelize, even within our faith community.  Read Sections 897 through 913 within Part I of the Catechism.  Checkout the cross-referenced Scripture verses.

  6. Follow 4CTODAY on a regular basis.  Contact the Champions of Life that we highlight.  Thank them for their leadership; encourage them to continue to do so.  Tell your friends and families of this effort.

  7. Follow and Support our partner organizations.  No one of us has the full and complete answers, nor the resources to single-handedly defeat the Culture of Death.  Collectively, however, with Jesus Christ, ALL things are possible.
