 4C Today has sent Letters of Recognition and Appreciation to the following for their “Champion of life” public statements.

 

February 2013

  • February 5, 2013 to The Most Reverend Samuel J. Aquila, Archbishop of Denver for remarks during the homily delivered during the Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of the the Immaculate Conception on January 20th as reported by the Denver Catholic Register, reminding priests and faithful alike who are unwilling to exercise their faith in everyday life, that they risk their eternal salvation. He reminded those who supporta so-called right to abortion and same sex unions, that they put their souls in jeopardy. Those Catholics who resist or who are unsure about a Church teaching have a responsibility to learn what the Church teaches and not just reject it.   • February 6, 2013 to His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York for his column addressing the youth on the 40th anniversary of Roe v Wade, calling them the “Ultrasound Generation.” His Eminence sees the youth as the generation to finally put an end to the slaughter of the unborn since there is no denying the truth we know because of ultrasounds.

  • February 13, 2013 to The Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn for his article of Jan. 23 in The Tablet as reported by LifeSiteNews.com. He took to task those who voted for Obama telling those voters they bear “the responsibility for a step deeper in the culture of death.”

  • February 16, 2013 to His Eminence Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago for his recent article in the Jan.6-19 issue of the Catholic New World, online entitled, “Legislation Creating 'Same-Sex Marriage': What's at Stake?” where he explained the theological reasons we cannot accept same-sex marriage as well as yhe sociological affects should it become law. He explained children are now a “subject of right” but would become an “object to which people have a right and which they have a right to obtain.”

  • February 16, 2013 to The Most Reverend Thomas J. Paprocki, Bishop of Springfield in Illinois for his recent letter to his flock, “The Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act” which he instructed be read at all the weekend Masses January 5-6, as reported by The Catholic Citizen. He had a very clear and concise description of what would happen were marriage to be redefined. Bishop Paprocki said marriage is not recognized by the law to regulate intimacy, but rather top protect the family and children resulting from the love-making acts of the husband and wife.

  • February 28, 2013 to His Excellency Bishop Michael Sheridan, of the Catholic Diocese of Colorado Springs, CO.  Regarding his interview with Life Site News on 2/22/13.   This was in regards to the National Catholic Register and how they should not be calling themselves Catholic.  Bishop Sheridan stated that the National Catholic Register is an embarrassment to the Catholic Church and should remove the name 'Catholic" from their title.  As Bishop Sheridan stated in the interview, churches should "absolutely not" make it available to parishioners in their parishes.

January 2013

  • January 15, 2013 to Mr. Bill O'Reilly of Fox News for taking to task the leadership of the Catholic Church on December 3, 2012 for failing speak out boldly or forcefully to defend our Christian traditions. Also on January 8, 2013 he exposed that the U.S. Government bypasses the Hyde Amendment by forcing the taxpayers to pay for abortions, by funding Planned Parenthood which performs the majority of the abortions in the country each year.

  • January 17, 2013 to Rev. George Rutler for a December 13, 2012 article rewritten in in LifeSiteNews.com (originally in Crisis Magazine) for correctly identifying the responsibility of Catholics in the moral collapse in our nation, the redefinition of marriage, family breakdown, contempt for chastity, record low birth rate and the destruction of infants. He also is correct to say everyone has suffered from a lack of catechesis in the last 40 years.

  • January 30, 2013 to The Most Reverend Robert W. Finn, D.D., Bishop of Kansas City~St. Joseph for an article reported in The Catholic Key Online, “TheBishop's Role in fostering the Mission of the Catholic Media” where he explained the Church's teaching regarding the role of the media in preaching the Gospel and its responsibilities. He explained that the National Catholic Reporter's positions against authentic Catholic teachings such as ordination of women, artificial contraception, sexual morality in general, and rejection of established Magisterial teaching among many other issues has not changed trajectory since its 1968 condemnation by his predecessor Bishop Charles Helmsing.

  • January 30, 2013 to His Eminence Sean Cardinal O'Malley, Archbishop of Boston for his truly inspiring homily given during the opening Mass of the National Prayer Vigil for Life on January 24, 2013, as reported by CNS and broadcast on EWTN, encouraging Catholics to change hearts, to understand that abortion is evil and unnecessary, and that we must change people's perception of adoption so that it is seen as a better option that abortion.

November 2012

  • November 15, 2012 The Most Reverend Thomas J. Paprocki, Diocese of Springfield, IL to thank him for his letter to his diocese in the Catholic Times calling all to an awareness that to support the intrinsic evils of abortion and same sex “marriage” in the Democratic platform would put one's eternal salvation in serious jeopardy.

  • November 15, 2012 The Most Reverend Daniel R. Jenky, C.S.C., D.D. Bishop of Peoria, IL to applaud him for the recent letter he required be read at all the weekend Masses of his diocese the weekend before the election instructing those politicians and those who support them who enable to destruction of innocent human life in the womb are guilty of grave sin.

  • November 15, 2012The Most Reverend David L. Ricken, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of Green Bay, WI applauding his letter of October 24 reminding the faithful electorate of his diocese to have well-formed consciences regarding the moral issues, especially those that impact the dignity of the human person, the right to life of the unborn. He listed and explained the intrinsic evils we must never support.
  • November 15, 2012 The Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M.,Cap. Archbishop of Philadelphia applauding his interview with the Catholic News Service explaining that we face the evils in our society today because we failed to speak out against the acceptance of those evils in the political party at the time they were introduced. We placed party loyalty ahead of adherence to God's laws.

September 2012

  • Sept. 25, 2012 His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, to recognize him for his recent appearances at the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention where he prayed with and for the delegates and our country, that we embrace Life and Tradional Marriage.

  • September 25, 2012 The Reverend Andrew Kemberling, of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Centennial, CO for his prayers and statements at the 2012 Colorado Republican State Assembly and Convention. His defense of marriage and Natural Law as being from our Creator and not the government were compelling and courageous.

     

August 2012 

  • August 2, 2012     His Eminence Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I. Archbishop of Chicago, to recognize him for his forthright statement defending natural marriage and not submitting our values to the government for approval (in response to Chicago Mayor Emanuel's remarks that “Chick-fil-A's values are not Chicago's values.” Reported by LifeSiteNews.com

 July 2012 

  • July 12, 2012    The Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M.Cap. Archbishop of Philadelphia, to recognize him for his speech on June 30th opening the Fortnight for Freedom in Indianapolis and his beautiful homily at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on July 4. He spoke of true freedom as belonging only to Jesus Christ and that we need to speak out not only for religious liberty, but for the sacredness of life and the dignity of the human person—what it means to be made in the image and likeness of God. This was found on the Archdiocese of Philadelphia website.

  • July 24, 2012     The Most Reverend Salvatore J. Cordileone, bishop of Oakland (soon to be Bishop of San Francisco) to recognize him for his open letter to the Us. Senate Judiciary Committee urging the committee to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). This was found on Courageous Priest.

  • July 30, 2012     The Most Reverend John C. Nienstedt, Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, to recognize him for his leadership and guidance regarding the 9-Day Novena for the “Rebirth of Chastity and Purity” which began July 18th. Each day of the novena a different group was the object of prayer, married couples, troubled marriages, infertile couples, those bear the cross of homosexuality, those addicted to pornography, etc. This was reported by LifeSiteNews.com.

  • July 31, 2012     His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, to recognize him for his statement regarding the abdication by the shepherds with regard to promoting the Church's teaching on sexual matters. The laity is hungry for the true teaching of the Church by our shepherds and desperately in need of it. Reported in the Wall Street Journal.
